Christ UMC will hold their annual Corn Festival today, from 4-7 PM. Featured meal is all the fresh picked corn on the cob you can eat plus pulled pork or barbequed chicken, dessert and beverage. Entertainment includes The Donohues, Victoria Gerst and the Christ First Praise Band. Cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and children under 5 free. Tickets are available in the church office.

A book study, “Dry Bones into Spiritual Vitality” will begin on Thursday September 4 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Jackie Nixon will be the facilitator; contact her for more information.

Mark you calendars for “An Evening of Spaghetti & Song” which will be held on Monday, September 8 at 5:30 PM. We will have special entertainment and guest participation during dessert. Cost is $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 6-12 and children 5 years and under free.

REACHING OUT/BACK TO SCHOOL:

            The Outreach Committee of First Church is taking on a project for “back to school”. This project will be outlined in detail in the next Link. Some of you may want to jump-start it for us while shopping at local merchants. We will be concentrating on book bags and related supplies for The Comfort House which is located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Weirton. This is a location where children who are victims of neglect and abuse are counseled by our local help agencies. More information will follow.
